A rare species in cultivation that is native to the forests and moist, shady valleys of Japan. Unusual, cup-shaped, near white flowers with reflexed petals and deciduous leaves. Height 14 cm. Flowering April to May. Sheltered site in moist but well drained, humus-rich soil.
