Salvia flava var. megalantha
This beautiful perennial in the Sage family is native to the hillsides of Yunnan, China. Produces clumps of wrinkled, textured, green leaves and two-toned flowers of yellow with an unusual and striking purple-brown tongue. There is much confusion about this plant's scientific name and in the nursery trade it is often sold as Salvia bulleyana. Flowering June to August. Height 60 cm. Sun to part shade in humus rich, well-draining soil.
