A highly attractive and rare, ornamental, dwarf rhubarb that is native to the mountain slopes and forests of western China. Produces heart-shaped foliage and unusual, small, maroon and white flowers on erect stems from May to June, followed by red fruits. Spreads by stolons to give dense ground cover. Height 20 to 50 cm. Moist, humus rich, well-drained soil in sun to part shade.
