Metaplexis japonica Rough Potato
A deciduous vine with edible and medicinal uses that is native to the thickets, forest edges and stream banks of Japan, China, Korea, and far eastern Russian. It can climb to 8 metres in height and produces large, ribbed, ovate leaves and clusters of showy, star-shaped, downy white flowers with pink or purple stripes. Flowers July to September. Full sun to part shade in moisture retentive, well-draining soil.
