We are now selling peat-free plug plants.

As many will be aware, traditionally plug plants are grown in peat and peat use is catastrophic for the environment. Plug plants have a smaller carbon footprint as they are lighter and take up less space in a delivery van. This also means we can offer a special flat-rate postage charge of £7.99 (no matter how big or small your order).

We have grown all these plants ourselves and can offer healthy plugs with well-established roots in two sizes. We recommend potting up plants on receipt into 9cm pots for 4 weeks before planting out (however, some like Saxifraga stolonifera can be planted straight into the garden). An advantage of buying younger plants is that they will adapt better to your individual growing conditions than larger plants that may struggle. All our plants are grown outside or in a netted shade tunnel so are already acclimatised to life outside. Unless specified, all the plants we offer have proven to be hardy here in rural, southern Scotland.

Please make sure you have everything you want in your cart as, once you have paid for your order, we cannot combine additional orders into one parcel and refund shipping charges - it can cause confusion, and it costs us time and money to refund your card.

Seeds can be combined in any plant order as long as they are ordered at the same time. Plant orders will be sent by Royal Mail 24 hour tracked service. We aim to dispatch plant orders within 2 weeks, weather permitting.

Please be aware, old foliage may be trimmed back and some plants may be taking on autumnal colours or be now dormant. Plug plants are removed from their trays before being boxed and carefully packed inside biodegradable bags so their roots will be kept moist for the journey to you. Please see item page for suitable growing instructions as we do not include plastic care labels. All our packaging materials are fully recyclable.

Plants can only be purchased by customers in Scotland, England, Wales and Isle of Man. We regret that we cannot accept plant orders from Northern Ireland, Channel Islands and the EU but we can still send seeds.
