Impatiens mengtzeana (Trailing Form) SOLD OUT
A hardy, perennial species still rare in cultivation that is native to SW China, Sikkim, India and Thailand. Produces glossy, serrated leaves and large, yellow-orange, orchid-like flowers with curling spurs in autumn. Rather than staying upright, this form tends to want to trail onto the ground and root at the nodes. Height 20 cm. Moist, humus rich, well-drained soil in part to full shade in a cool, sheltered position. Hardy to -5 C (possibly a little more) in the ground with a winter mulch but if pot grown it requires full protection from frosts.
